Gary, you're a great dad....

...because on Brynn's fist day of daycare when she was only three months old, I saw you lean forward, look her in the eye and make this speech to her as you were strapping her into her carseat:
"Now today is your first day of daycare and all the girls are going to hate you because you're beautiful, and all the boys are going to hate you because you're a girl. But just because you're beautiful, doesn't mean you can be mean. So just be nice to everyone, and you'll make friends, okay?"

...because for 15 years you've told me you can't sing but I've heard you sing to Brynn songs like:
One little, two little, three little Brynnie's,
four little, five little, six little Brynnie's,
seven little, eight little, nine little Brynnie's.
Ten little... chiiillllldddds." (Cause children just doesn't fit.)

...because the baby monitor you have in the computer room with you in the evening is turned up so high, you can hear every breath she takes.

...because you already chase her around the house and make her squeal with delight as you jump out from a room and scare her. And you allow her to "scare" you too, which she loves. And I can see the joy radiate from you as you listen to her scream and then giggle.

...because you say things to her like, "There's mommy. We love her so much, don't we?"

...because you stand with me at the doorway at daycare way longer than we should, waving bye-bye to Brynn, giving her time to wave back.

...because sometimes you just prefer to let her sleep on your chest, rather than lay her in her crib for a nap.

...because you always make sure bath-time is fun, making sure she's got plenty of toys and plenty of time to play.

...because one of the first things you did was set up a bank account for her and a life insurance policy so she will always be provided for.

...because you email me out of the blue and say, "I miss Brynn."

...because every morning when we leave Brynn, you tell her to have a good day, and you mean it.

...because every day when we pick her up, you ask her how her day was, and you really want to know the answer.
